The ABVP observed schools bandh today protesting collection of high fees by the corporate schools across the State.
Speaking on the occasion, ABVP State secretary Ayyappa thanked the parents, schools managements and students for making the bandh a big success. He said some 35,000 schools participated in the bandh. The ABVP activists staged protest programs at district and mandal headquarters. He said the success of the bandh making it clear how the parents were facing troubles with the high fees. He said the small private schools located in rural areas participated in the bandh.
The ABVP will extend their support to the private schools collecting less fees, he said and alleged that the DPS, HPS, Chirac, Meridian and other corporate schools were collecting lakhs of rupees and asked the government to tell as to what it was doing in this regard. The government was adopting delaying tactics in bringing Fees Control Act. The government heads were sold out to the corporate schools and looting the poor and middle class people.
Ayyappa demanded that the government awake and bring about the Act immediately. He said the fee for 12th class was only Rs 50,000 in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab and asked the Telangana State government to bring such Acts in the State too. He also demanded that the State government fill 20,000 teacher posts in the government schools to strengthen education. He said the ABVP was thanking BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah for extending his full support to the bandh. (NSS)
