ABVP demands direct polls for student bodies

Bhopal, October 12: Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad today demanded that posts of students’ union be decided through direct polls and not on merit basis from next academic year.

ABVP, a student wing of BJP, has emerged victorious in 81.26 per cent colleges in the student union polls in Madhya Pradesh.

ABVP’s 347 presidents, 342 vice presidents, 339 secretaries and 315 joint secretaries were elected on merit basis in various colleges of the state associated with seven universities, its national general secretary Vishnu Dutt Sharma told reporters here today.

Buoyed by the success of the ABVP candidates in the student body polls, Sharma demanded government that student body elections be held through ballot box so that they get an opportunity to elect candidates.
