Alleging that the Telangana Intermediate Board has turned as ‘Inti Board’ (Own Board), Akhila Bharathiya Vidhyarthi Parishath (ABVP) has demanded the State government to ban the corporate colleges– Narayana and Chaithanya, which were turning as death dens of the students in the name of ‘brand’ and protect the government Junior Colleges in the State.
ABVP has given a call for Junior Colleges bandh on Wednesday and made it success across the Telangana State. They also organized huge dharna at Intermediate Board. Speaking on this occasion, ABVP state secretary Niranjan has alleged that more than 1000 students committed suicides in the last 20 years in Narayana and Chaithanya junior colleges.
He demanded the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who assured before elections that the corporate colleges would be closed in Telangana State, to tell as to why the latter was maintaining silence on this issue. Alleging that five students were committed suicides in the last one year in Narayana and Chaithanya colleges, Niranjan demanded the government to arrest the colleges’ managements immediately. Close the colleges, which were making the students’, join their colleges excessively violating the rules and without having permissions, he demanded.
He said that 402 government junior colleges were there in Telangana State and out of them 80 colleges were being run in schools on shift system. “It is shame on the part of government and it is the best example for the inefficiency of the government”, he asserted. He lambasted the government stating that 40 colleges have no principals and there were 4362 junior lecturer posts were vacant. “How can the government achieve quality education without lecturers”, he asked.
Finding fault with the Telangana State government for claiming that Rs.140 crore, the said amount was released by the Centre in the name of Rural Infrastructure Development Finance, were released by it for the development of infrastructure, Niranjan said that it was not correct on the part of the T government. He alleged that the Telangana government not even released five paisa for the sake of junior colleges.
The police arrested the ABVP leaders and shifted them to Goshamahal Stadium. ABVP City secretary Venkat Reddy, State joint secretary Rajendra Prasad, other leaders—Sridhar, Srihari, Sampath, Ellaswamy, Jagan, Yadagiri, Samba, Suman, Don, Sriram, Ruthwik, Rajesh, Mahesh, Shekar, Srikanth, Sravan, Nagaraju, Surya Raghavender and others were among the arrested students.
