Mumbai, September 25: In yet another gang war inside the Arthur Road Jail, a notorious aide of Abu Salem was attacked by another inmate inside the highly fortified prison here on Saturday.
The victim – Mehndi Hasan – is an aide of gangster Abu Salem, who is also housed in the same jail.
Hasan has now been shifted to JJ hospital with injuries on his face and hands.
No official remarks have so far come from the police about the culprit as well as the motive behind the attack.
This is the second such incident of gang war in the prison in less than three months.
Earlier on July 24, Mustafa Dossa (an accused in the 1993 serial blast cases) and Abdul Qayoom, of another rival gang, had allegedly attacked Abu Salem with a sharp-edged spoon in a cell.
