Abu Dhabi, March 12: The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) is presenting for the first time a complete opera fully produced in UAE with an international opera production team featuring a renowned Italian cast.
The first show of Mozart’s opera “La Finta Giardiniera” will take place on Friday 12 March 2010 at Al Ain Municipality Theatre as part of Al Ain Classics Festival.
The Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Mozart composed his delightful opera buffa, an Italian comic opera, for the Carnival season in Munich. French conductor Guillaume Tourniaire is the musical brain behind the project and adapted the piece for this year’s Al Ain Classics Festival.
In collaboration with KALIMA, the translation initiative of ADACH, the text is translated into Arabic but will be sung in original Italian language. Emirati Actor Habib Gholuum will introduce the plot in Arabic. Through this concept, the opera will be fully accessible for local and expatriates music lovers.
The show will be presented again on Saturday 13 March at the same place, in a night reserved for ladies only.
