Abu Dhabi Motorists Urge Malls to Allow Parking Round the Clock

Abu Dhabi, July 04: Vehicle owners in Abu Dhabi have urged the the authorities concerned to request the malls and department stores to keep their parking lots open round the clock to resolve the parking problem.

Abdul Hamid Abdullah, a government department employee, says, “The managements of shopping centres and malls should open their car parks for the public so that the parking problem is resolved.”

Ahmed Al Maghrabi, an engineer, says, “I reach home from work at 10.30pm. Due to shortage of parking space, I have to park anywhere. However, the next day I find a traffic violation ticket stuck to my car’s windshield for parking at a prohibited area. I think that the solution to the parking problem can be found if the shopping malls allow their parking lots to remain open all day.”

Mohamad Hafiz, another engineer, says, “Managements of department stores are behaving in a strange way. They close their car parks without making use of them. Why don’t they open these private car parks to the crowd in the evening, especially Al Khalidyia Shopping Mall and Abu Dhabi Mall, located in the Al Siyahi (tourist) Club area, since these malls are in the downtown area.”

Faiza Abdulla, an employee, says, “Car parking is always a problem. I reach home very late owing to the fact that I waste my time searching for a parking space, a problem which a lot of families are facing.”
