Telugu Desam MP Y Sujana Choudary on Saturday apologised to the party workers even as he admitted that abstaining from voting in Rajya Sabha on FDI on Friday was a “mistake”.
“It was an unexpected mistake but a costly mistake. It should not have happened,” Choudary told newsmen after meeting TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu at Adilabad on Saturday evening.
The MP said he handed over a letter to Chandrababu explaining the reason for his absence from the House at the crucial time of voting.
“I reached the House ten minutes late. It was an unexpected mistake but a costly one. I sincerely apologise to the TDP rank and file for having let them down,” Choudary said.
He refuted allegations that there were “ulterior motives” or “vested interests” behind his action which left the party totally embarrassed.
“Our party president knows my character. I have no business interests linked with the government. I will abide by whatever decision the party president takes,” Choudary added.
