About two kg charas recovered in south Kashmir

Srinagar, July 08: Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have recovered about two kg of ‘charas’ from a vehicle in south Kashmir, official sources said here today.

They said a ‘naka’ checking party from police station, Kokernag was searching vehicles at Hangal Gund, when a driver tried to escape.

Later, during the search of the vehicle, about two kg of charas was recovered, they said, adding a case has been registered against the driver.

Police and officials of excise department have destroyed the banned crops, including ‘charas’, cultivated on over thousands of kanals of land in two south Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Pulwama during the past four months.
