Jammu, January 15: General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command Lt Gen K T Parnaik today said about 2500 militants are being trained in the camps ‘existing’ in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir across the line.
‘’As per intelligence sources, 2000 to 2500 militants are learning skills in training camps operating across the line of border in PoK,’’ Lt Gen Parnaik told reporters at the sidelines of medal investiture ceremony to gallantry soldiers on the occasion of 63rd Army Day at Sangha Auditorium in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
The Army Commander said, ‘’there was a difference between the number of militants at launching pads and those being trained in camps.’’
He said “at launching pads about 200 to 300 militants are waiting to sneak into Indian Territory adding, ‘’the number of militants at launching pads keeps fluctuating and with snowfall at upper reaches, attempts wouldl be made but troops were on alert.’’ On Indo-China position along the Line of Actual Control, the General said, ‘’it remains calm and there is no need to worry. We had transpirations along the LAC, which have taken place in 2011.’’
“Border talks would take place in a couple of days,” adding it was an ongoing process and Army along with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was continuously maintaining vigil along the LAC.
On the newly established women cadre by the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit, the Army Commander said, ‘’We keep getting reports from intelligence resources and as far as terrorist mechanism is concerned, Lashkar is trying to revive the women cadre. They are being trained to push into the Jammu and Kashmir.’
