Abid seeks Rs 5,000-CR Sub-Plan for Minorities

PCC general secretary Abid Rasool Khan has submitted a representation to UPA chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy urging them to form a Sub Plan for Minorities in the State on the lines of Sub-Plan for SCs and STs.

Rasool Khan has appreciated these leaders for sanctioning a Sub-Plan for SCs and STs and making it a reality. He recalled that Justice Ranganath Misra Report and Rajender Sachar Committee Report had concluded that the Minorities lagged behind the SCs and STs in terms of empowerment, education and economic development. Therefore, it is just and necessary that the State Government consider approving a Sub-Plan with minimum outlay of Rs 5,000 crores for Minorities.

He explained that with the new Minorities Commissionerate being set up, if the Sub-Plan is available then the Minority Commissionerate with the provisions of the Sub-Plan will be able to implement a number of welfare measures for the Minorities and in turn improve their standard of living. He stated that Kiran Kumar Reddy government, under the able guidance of Sonia Gandhi would be the first State in the country to implement this. He also explained that he would be organizing seminars and meetings on this issue in Hyderabad followed by meetings in all the district Headquarters in the coming days to build up public opinion and convince the leadership and the to make Minorities’ Sub-Plan a reality.
