Abhishek death doesn’t seem to be linked to ragging: SDM

Ghaziabad, August 18: Though a case of murder and ragging has been lodged against five persons in the death of a 19-year-old student of a local engineering college, a senior official here today claimed that the incident does not appear to be a fallout of ragging.

Based on a written complaint of the father of deceased Abhishek Sahai, police registered a case under section 147 (punishment for rioting), 302 (punishment for murder), 120b (punishment for criminal conspiracy) of IPC and under the Anti Ragging Act against an official and four students of S R M Institute of Engineering and Management.

Sahai fell to his death from the roof of the hostel of the institute in Modi Nagar, 20 kms from here, on Sunday and the family alleged that the incident was linked to ragging.
