Earlier Muslims used to establish Musafirkhana, Abdarkhana and Saraekhana which were benefited by people irrespective of religion and caste. One such service is an Abdarkhana established in 1960 opposite Masjid-e-Chowk. It was established by Sahebzadi Sadatunnisa Begum, W/O Nawab Khair Nawaz Jung Bahadur and Sahebzadi Tameezunnisa Begum for earning reward. They also endowed two shops under it so that the revenue collected from the shops can be used to meet expenses of Abdarkhana. The Abdarkhana was shutdown recently. However tenants of shops of Masjid-e-chowk and locals restored the service. People get water from 8 am to 11 pm from the Abdarkhana. More such social services are needed to revive such virtuous traditions.
