The movie is a pure delight for any dance lover. It is about how one can make their dreams true through determination, persistence and hard work.
The story is centered round a Mumbai suburb dance troupe led by Suresh (Varun Dhawan), Vinnie (Shraddha Kapoor) and their friends who dream of making it to Las Vegas for an international hip hop dance tournament. They find a ‘guru’ in Vishnu Sir (Prabhu Deva), who co-incidentally has the same dream and, is trying to get rid of his not so happy past. Vishnu Sir dreams of putting India on the world hip hop map.
The story is about the journey undertaken by the dance troupe under the guidance of Vishnu Sir to offload their tag of ‘cheaters’, which brought about their downfall in a previous attempt and their heroic attempt to salvage lost pride and respect.
During this journey, one can clearly see love, friendship, betrayal, honor and redemption in full view. The vibrancy of Las Vegas is in full view in the movie. The dance sequences in the movie are amazing.
The movie is directed by Remo D’Souza, one of the country’s best hip hop dancers and choreographers. The amount of detailing he has done on the dance moves is superb. In the movie, we see Olive (Lauren Gottlieb) who is an Indian origin dancer in Las Vegas joining the troupe after a mishap. One can expect few cameos in the film.
Performance wise, Varun, Shraddha, Prabhu Deva and Lauren have given the audience a hip hop treat. The movie shows hip hop can be done to any music with beats. It also captures the respect the dancers have for each other and how dancers from across the globe appreciate a great performance, irrespective of origin.
It is also about giving second chances to people who have worked hard to prove themselves once again. The direction and screenplay is very good. Music and dance sequences are awesome and worth watching. To top it all, it is shown in 3D, which elevates the joy of watching the dance sequences.
