‘Aashiqui’ fame actor Rahul Roy joins BJP, twitter reacts

MUMBAI: Rahul Roy, known for his 1990 romantic film ‘Aashiqui’, was the top trend on Saturday after the actor joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Vijay Goel.
After joining the ruling party, Roy, 49, hailed the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah, and said “it was a significant day” of his life.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah are taking the country forward and the progress is remarkable. It’s a significant day in my life. The way Modiji and Amit Shahji have been taking the country forward, also in changing the view of how the world looks at India now, is remarkable,” he said after joining the party.
The actor said that he wants to contribute towards development of the country and is ready to take up any task entrusted to him by the party. Rahul also sang the popular song “Saanson Ki Jarurat Hai Jaise” from his movie Aashiqui during the media briefing.
The news of winner of the first season of TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ joining ruling BJP has completely taken social media by storm.

Mr Roy made his Bollywood debut at the age of 22 in the 1990 blockbuster ‘Aashiqui’. He acted in movies like ‘Junoon’ and ‘Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee’. The also won the first season of TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss’.
