Ghaziabad, January 05: Acting on the plea filed by CBI, a Ghaziabad court on Tuesday gave its approval for conducting narco test on Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, parents of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar who was found murdered in her Noida house on May 16, 2008.
Special Judicial Magistrate Preeti Singh granted the permission on an application filed by CBI about two weeks back.
Aarushi Talwar was found with her throat slit and several stab wounds to her face on May 16, 2008 in her parents’ house at Jalvayu Vihar in Noida, adjacent to national capital Delhi. Her dentist father Rajesh Talwar was arrested and charged with the murder of Aarushi and their domestic servant Hemraj, whose body was found the next day.
Rajesh Talwar was released when the CBI failed to file the chargesheet against him within the legally stipulated period. Then a fresh probe was ordered.
Narco analysis involves psychotherapy, which is conducted while the patient is deeply sedated with medication so that inhibitions are reduced, and responses more truthful.
Incidentally, Rajesh, who was arrested by the Noida police, was let off after the CBI gave him a clean chit.
Earlier speaking to PTI, Rajesh had said, “Last year too, we had given our consent for narco test but the CBI did brain mapping and lie detector tests. After that they said narco test was not needed. Now they want it again and we have no problems with that.”
Dr Talwar said, “I don’t have any objection to narco test. If it is required it should be done; to put Aarushi’s murderer behind bars and to provide justice to my daughter.”
“Last week I was contacted by CBI officials and they asked for my support for a narco test. I am completely on for it. Although a lie detector and brain mapping test has already been conducted on me but then too I am ready to undergo any test,” he added.
However, both of them appeared dissatisfied by the probe of CBI. “We hope the agency concentrates on the real culprits in the case,” Nupur said.
Though a date for the narco analysis has not been fixed, the tests are likely to be conducted very soon, CBI sources said.
Last year, the Talwars were taken to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for carrying out various tests. The sources said they are likely to be taken to the same centre again.
The CBI, which has re-constituted its entire investigating team to probe the case, had earlier taken a written permission from the Talwars for conducting the tests on them. Importantly, the CBI had conducted narco tests on other suspects Rajkumar, Vijay Mandal and Krishna all domestic helps. However, all the suspects had come clean.
