After remaining untraceable for two days, Nupur Talwar, a co-accused in the 2008 sensational murder of her teenage daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, will most likely appear in the Supreme Court on Friday.
According to Nupur Talwar’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi, “She is not a fugitive and running away from justice. She can come to the court at 2 pm today if the court takes up her case.”
Meanwhile, a bench of Supreme Court Justices AK Patnaik and Swatanter Kumar will today hear her petition seeking stay on the non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued by the special Ghaziabad court against her for not appearing for a hearing in the 2008 Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case.
Talwar has been in the run ever since and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI ) carried out massive searches at her south Delhi residence, and two other places, but did not find her there.
It is likely that the central probe agency might Nuput Talwar any time before the next hearing of the case scheduled for April 18.
Meanwhile, through her lawyer Mukul Rohatgi, Mrs Talwar yesterday moved the Supreme Court against the April 9 Allahabad High court order which suspended the 30 days protection given to her. It was based on this order that the CBI court in Ghaziabad issued the non-bailable warrant for her.
On April 9, the Allahabad High Court had suspended its March 13 order asking Mrs Talwar to appear before the Ghaziabad court within 30 days. It had also asked the trial court to “expeditiously” decide any bail application filed by her.
Aarushi, 14, was found dead inside her Noida residence in May 2008 with her throat slit. The body of the Talwars’ domestic servant Hemraj, initially a suspect in the case, was recovered from the terrace a day later.
