New Delhi: A recent report on public distribution system submitted by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in Delhi Assembly on Tuesday uncovered several ongoing discrepancies in the PDS.
AAP Party MLA Kapil Mishra took to Twitter to describe Arvind Kejriwal as the most corrupt CM alleging the Rs. 5,400 crore worth scam carried out by AAP party in its three-year-rule.
He said he shall be filing a complaint with the CBI on Friday against Food and Civil supplies minister Imran Hussain.
The party leader also claims nearly four lakh fake ration cards which were used to carry out scam worth of Rs 150 crore per month have been recently confiscated.
Delhi’s BJP party president Manoj Tiwari slammed the AAP party charging it with diverting the ration allocated to the poor to the ration mafia, Times now reports.
“Like ‘chara ghotala’ (fodder scam) in Bihar, Delhi is witnessing a ration scam as the CAG report points out. Motorcycles and scooters were used for transporting ration which was diverted to ration mafia instead of catering to the poor people for whom it was meant,” Tiwari told a press conference.
Now according to the sources Arvind Kejriwal’s government is planning a CBI probe into the alleged scam report by CAG.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had tweeted, “This is what LG trying to protect when he rejects doorstep delivery of rations. The entire ration system is in the grip of mafia protected by political masters. Doorstep delivery would have destroyed this mafia.”
While the BJP MPs allege that doorstep delivery would promote more irregularities in ration distribution.
The CAG audit report for the year 2016-17 highlighted many loopholes in the ration distribution with as many as eight vehicles which ferried 1,589.92 quintals of specified food articles to fair price shops had registration number of buses, scooters, motorcycles, and three-wheelers. “This gives rise to doubt whether the reported transportation of SFAs (specified food articles) had actually taken place and the possibility of pilferage could not be ruled out,” the report stated.
