Congress leader Ajay Maken on Tuesday slammed the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government for going back on its pre-poll promises and said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has now become a ‘Khaas Aadmi Party’.
“What we are seeing is that AAP is destroying all pre-poll promises. It is no longer an Aam Aadmi Party, it has become ‘Khap’ now, which is ‘ Khaas Aadmi Party’. AAP promised that they’ll be the lowest VAT regime but in very first Budget session, they’ve increased it,” Maken told ANI.
The Delhi Assembly passed the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill today.
The Bill was passed even as the Assembly witnessed high drama after BJP MLA Vijender Gupta tore off the amendment papers and his party MLAs staged a walkout from the session.
It will make enabling provisions for levy of VAT in respect of goods enlisted in the Fourth Schedule at flexible rates instead of a flat slab of 20 percent. (ANI)
