New Delhi: The Supreme Court today has ruled out Aadhar as not mandatory for NEET 2018.
The Apex court observed that any other proof of identification can be used in place of Aadhar in an appeal against Gujarat’s High Court order filed by Abid Ali Patel a resident of Gujarat.
UIDAI clarified in the apex court that they have not made Aadhaar mandatory for NEET 2018 saying, “We have not authorized CBSE for mandatorily taking Aadhar number of students for appearing in NEET examinations.”
During the hearing of the case in the apex court, Attorney General K K Venugopal said, “Like in J&K, Meghalaya and Assam, other ID proofs can be given for exam.”
CBSE had made Aadhar mandatory to apply for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examinations in February for which a Abid Patel has file a plea against the order in Gujarat High Court reported OneIndia.
