Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Laxmaiah on Friday informed that the process of issuance of Aadhar Cards to all would be completed in next three or four months.
Speaking to the media after visiting Khairatabad “Mee Seva” centre where Aadhar cards services were offering along with UNIC ID Chairman Nandan Nulekhani, Ponnala Laxmaiah stated that two crores people in the State were getting various services using Aadhar cards. The Aadhar cards should be issued to all within three or four months.
The Minister also informed that Mee Seva centres would be set up in the places where there was requirement to cater the needs of the people. Already 7,500 Mee Seva centres were extending services throughout the State. By the end of this year, another 300 services would be added to the existing services, which were offering through Mee Seva centres, he added.
Nandhan Nilekhani informed that Aadhar cards were already issued to 6.3 crore people in the State. Out of 45 crore people registered their names for Aadhar centres, the UNIC ID issued cards to 35 crore people in the country. Andhra Pradesh stood as model State in the country in the issuance of Aadhar cards.
Minister for Civil Supplies D. Sridhar Babu, citing a news story published in a vernacular daily on irregularities in the issuance of Aadhar cards, warned that criminal cases would be filed against those who were responsible for malpractices in Aadhar cards registration. The officials should supervise the functioning of Aadhar centres, lest action would be taken against them, he added. (NSS)
