A Muslim lost the job in Kolkata for growing beard

Mr. Mohammed Ali Ismail was working as General Manager (Mines) with Adhunik Group of Industries in Kolkata for the past 6 years. He went to Saudi Arabia for performing Hajj in May 2014. On his return, he grew beard. After joining duty his salary was reduced to 50%. It continued till March 2015. He sought audience with the MD of the firm, Mr. Manoj Agarwal and requested him to give the arrears of his salary. He was thrown out with the help of security guard and he was declared a terrorist.

MD of the company alleged that he threatened him whereas the MD addressed Ismail as a terrorist which hurt his feelings. Mr. Ismail then approach Minorities Commission, Human Rights Commissioin and the office of the CM of West Bengal but it was no avail. He got a complaint registered in Baligunj police station but no action was taken.

According to Mahesh Agarwal, who is brother of Manoj Agarwal, MD of the company, Mr. Ismail is telling lies and he is a cheater. When Ismail made this news public, he received an SMS from the company offering him all the arrears of his salary. Mr. Ismail told that he does not want money but he wants justice. Meanwhile an MLA of Left Wing of West Bengal demanded action against the Officer In charge of Baligunj police station for not taking any action against the official of the company.
