A group of youngsters is providing help to pandemic victims on bicycles

Hyderabad: Relief Riders, a cycling community in Hyderabad has been delivering medicines and essentials for vulnerable and elderly people at their doorstep in the city.

The cycling community is also delivering free food to COVID-19 patients.

Santhana Selvan, Hyderabad’s bicycle mayor, said  that payments are usually cashless. But, occasionally, volunteers help with cash transactions if an elderly person is unfamiliar with digital payments.

Selvan said, “A volunteer in Hyderabad even paid for medicines as the person in need of it could not afford them. He said that it’s really heartening to earn the gratitude of such people.”

Most of these volunteers who are used to riding long distances operate within their neighbourhoods.  Selvan added, “Cycling is our hobby. We cycle long distances to remain healthy. We don’t get to ride long distances now. But we ride for the health and safety of others.
