The Mangalhat police have arrested a 20-year-old man on the charges of raping and cheating his girlfriend on the pretext of marrying her.
The accused, Nagesh of Sham Nagar, was arrested on Friday following a complaint lodged by the parents of a 19-year-old girl who claimed that Nagesh had sexually exploited her by promising to marry her. According to police, Nagesh had an affair with the girl for last few months. However, after getting a job as an electrician in the GHMC he refused to marry her and got engaged to another girl. His marriage was scheduled to be held on Saturday.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 376 and 471 IPC and sent the victim girl to a government hospital for medical examination. Further investigations are on. (INN)
