A 97-year-old Indian-origin man named Tehemten Homi Dhunjiboy Mehta in the UAE has got his driving licence renewed for the next four years.
According to the Gulf News, he was born in 1922 and his licence is now valid until October 2023. He could become the first centenarian to be driving on Dubai roads in three years.
He never got married and last drove a vehicle in 2004. He now uses public transport or travels around on foot.
He prefers to walk sometimes up to four hours daily, “Don’t tell anyone. It’s the secret of my strong health and long life. And yes, I don’t smoke or drink,” said Mehta.
In 1980 he came to Dubai and took up an accounting job at a five-star hotel where he worked until 2002. In 2012, the law firm celebrated his 90th birthday at the hotel where he worked for over three decades.
