One year on, no significant move in Alair encounter probe

“Justice Delayed is Justice Denied”, this is true of Alair encounter probe. Even after a year since the Telangana government ordered Special Investigation Team (SIT) to officially launch probe into the killing of Viquaruddin Ahmed and four other members of Tehreek Galbha e Islam (TGI) at Alair in Nalgonda. TThe investigation into the case is seems to be moving at a snail’s pace.

It seems neither Govt. is interested in the probe nor the tactful Muslims leadership is showing any interest in it. The family members of the deceased five Muslim youths are still waiting for Justice.

According to TOI reports, TS police officially ordered the six members of SIT led by Sandeep Shandilya. On May 2, a month later the statements of the family members of Viquaruddin were recorded.

To our shock police is not in a position to give the time that hoe long the probe will go. It is also learn that till now the SIT has not even recorded the statements of those police personnel, who were present in the vehicle when the encounter took place.

“The enquiry is being done and it will be completed soon and we are gathering circumstantial evidences and other details needed,” an officer said on the condition of anonymity.

The family members of Viquaruddin, who from the beginning claimed that they have no faith the the appointed SIT, have been pitching for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry to nail the persons responsible for alleged killing of undertrials.

It may be mention on 7th April 2015, five under trial Muslim prisoners namely, Viqar Ahmed, Syed Amjad Ali, Mohammed Zakir, Mhammed Haneef and Azhar Khan were shot dead at Alair in Nalgonda District in an encounter while shifting them from Warangal Jail to Hyderabad Criminal Court. At the time of shooting, these Muslim youths were handcuffed. Armed Reserved Police party killed them under the pretext that they were trying to snatch the police weapons for escaping.
