The city Traffic police filed 493 charge-sheets against drunken drivers from January 22 to 26 and they were produced before the 3rd and 4th Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Erra manzil here.
According to Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, the Metropolitan Magistrate convicted 94 accused and sentenced them to imprisonment, from period ranging two to 20 days. The Magistrate also permanently cancelled/suspended licenses of 30 convicts, apart from imposing fine up to Rs 10,58,600. All the accused sentenced were sent to Chanchalguda Jail. Besides, 2 violators were also jailed for driving without driving license.
The violators, who have committed the offence, will be sent for counseling at TTI. Goshamahal and Begumpet. The drive regarding the drunken drive was being continued to curb the Traffic Violations and also for the safety of commuters on the road, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said. (NSS)
