93-year-old woman gagged, robbed of 8-tola gold

Hyderabad, March 17: Two unidentified miscreants barged into a house and robbed eight tola gold ornaments after gagging the lone elderly woman in it in L B Nagar yesterday.

The victim, 93-year-old Ramalingamma, a resident of Sagar Enclave under the LB Nagar police station limits, was living with her son, Ravinder, a private employee, and daughter-in-law, Lakshmi, an employee in a defence establishment and two grand daughters.

This morning, the couple went to their work place and the children to their school leaving Ramalingamma alone in the house.

“Around 11.30 a.m, two unidentified persons knocked the door and as Ramalingamma opened the door, the miscreants asked her for water but she expressed her inability to do so as she was weak. Even as Ramalingamma was talking to them, they forced their way into the house and gagged her,’’ LB Nagar police said.

One of the offenders searched the entire house for valuables while the other stayed near the elderly woman to prevent her from raising an alarm.

After taking eight tola gold ornaments from the almirah, they left the place removing the cloth tied on Ramalingamma’s mouth, police said.

LB Nagar police registered a case and investigation is on.
