93 per cent candidates turn up for ICET

Vishakapatnam, May 19: Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET-2011) for admission into MBA and MCA courses in all universities across Andhra Pradesh was conducted successfully by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education, Hyderabad.

Convener of ICET-2011 GSN Raju said 93.4 per cent of 1,50,800 applicants appeared for the test at 276 test centres in 25 regional centres of the state. For the first time, ICET conducted the test at Amalapuram of East Godavari and Siddipeta in Medak districts.

Among all regional centres of ICET, Kuppam regional centre recorded the highest turnout of 96 per cent while Srikakulam centre registered the lowest 88 per cent of candidates.

Compared to last year when around 1,70,000 students appeared for the test, 1,40,848 candidates took the test this year.

Raju said the results of ICET would be announced on June 2 while the final key of ICET will be available on Internet on May 21.

He said counselling for admission to 38,000 MBA seats and 45,000 MCA seats in the state are likely to start from last week of June. Earlier, Minister for Tribal Welfare P Balaraju selected the B set of question paper that were opened on the university premises on Wednesday.

In Visakhapatnam, around 50 candidates failed to appear for ICET as they turned up late for the examination centre.
