92-year-old Harriette Thompson oldest woman to finish marathon

Harriette Thomson, a 92-year old cancer patient, has become the oldest woman to finish a marathon.

She completed the 26.2-mile-long San Diego Marathon on Sunday.

Charlotte resident Thomson ran the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in seven hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds.

Having survived three bouts of oral cancer, she crossed the line with her 56-year old son Brenny, the BBC has reported.

Thompson, aged 92 years and 65 days, overtook the record set by 92-years and 19 day-old Gladys Burrill during the Honolulu Marathon in 2010. (ANI)
