9-yr-old boy found dead in Kurnool village

Kurnool, April 07: The body of a nine-year-old boy was found in Handri river in Chinnatekuru village in the district today.

However, it was not known immediately whether he was murdered or was it a case of human sacrifice.

According to sources, the boy Santosh was staying at his grandparents house in Chinnatekuru village in Kalluru mandal and studying class II in Rama Maharshi school.

Santosh went missing from April 2. The grandparents lodged a complaint with the police.

This some of the villagers found a body floating in Handri river.

They immediately alerted the police, who retrieved the body and started investigation. However, the police were clueless whether the boy was murdered or was sacrificed to appease the goddess.

Santosh family hails from Diguvametta village in Prakasam district. The villagers say it was not the case of murder for ransom as the family is poor and lives on weaving bamboo baskets. As the boy was murdered on a new moon day that too on the Telugu New Year day, locals suspect that it was a case of human sacrifice. Police registered a case and are investigating.
