Twenty eight Public Sector Undertakings of Andhra Pradesh have earned a profit of Rs 922.95 crore while nine incurred a loss of Rs 684.39 crores during the year 2010-11, a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General said today. The report placed in the State Assembly today said during 2010-11, there were 48 working PSUs and 24 non-working PSUs which employed 2.64 lakh employees, the report said the working PSUs registered a turnover of Rs 61,476.93 crore, which is equal to 10.83 per cent of state GDP. They earned a profit of Rs 238.56 crore in aggregate for the year 2010-11 and accumulated losses are Rs 2,711.66 crore. A review of three years, CAG in is audit reports showed that the state PSUs losses of Rs 19,601.37 crore were controllable with better managment and there was a scops for improvement in the functioning and enhace the profits. As many as 30 working PSUs had arrears of 70 accounts as of September 2011 and there were 24 non-working companies which as no purpose is served by keeping these PUSs in existence and they need to be wound up quickly, the report added.
