Vennezuela, December 26: Nine crew members of a Greek cargo ship are unaccounted for after a blaze broke out on the vessel off the Venezuelan waters.
Six Filipino sailors and three Greek officers went missing after the fire broke out in one of the cabins, and spread on the bridge of the Aegean Wind.
According to Greece’s merchant shipping ministry, there were 24 seamen aboard the ship with nine of the crew members being Greek nationals, AFP reported.
Owned by the Greek shipping company Atlantic Bulk Carriers, the cargo ship was carrying iron ore from Brazil to the United States.
The Venezuelan officials have dispatched two patrol boats and two helicopters to help the Greek ship, the ministry said.
