Chief Minister K Chandrsekhar Rao today directed the officials to ensure uninterrupted nine hour power supply to agriculture sector for second crop– next Kharif. He held a review meeting on power availability, future needs and growing demand for power and need for additional production and new power plant, at Camp Office here. KCR confirmed the name of “Yadadri Power Plant” to be constructed at Damaracharla in Nalgonda district. The Chief Minister reiterated that he will lay a foundation stone for this prestigious Yadadri Power Plant shortly.
The officials should take every step to provide adequate power to the farm sector on priority basis to sustain the crops and to increase yield, he said. Directing the officials to take measures on power production and demand supply gap, the chief minister said that 4320 mw power is available in Telangana State. KCR gave a pat to electricity officials for their efforts as per the government’s priorities and keeping in view the expectations of the people. With additional production of power from various power plants and sources, the state will have about 7000 mw power by next March, he stated. He also made it clear that the state will not have any power shortfall by 2016 and will be power surplus by 2018. The officials should supply 9 hours power to the farmers for next season crops, KCR directed. The state will get power from various sources including – 150 tmc from Jajjar of NTPC, 290 tmc through CGS, 810 tmc from Gayathri Power Plant, 600 tmc from KTPC Bhupalapally, 1200 tmc from Jaipur of Singareni.(NSS)
