According to a report on Storm Water Drains, the Kukatpally Hydraulic zone is the most critical zone and 340 properties will be affected in Kukatpally area alone out of 880 properties in the entire GHMC limits.

Keeping in view the importance of the critical zone, GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy, Zonal Commissioner (West) Harichandana, along with senior officials of the Engineering, Town Planning and connected wings inspected critical nala points in Kukatpally Circle today.

The Commissioner inspected the bottleneck stretches over nalas in Circle 14 A&B Kukatpally and the areas like Deendayal Nagar, Navjeevan Nagar, Rajivgandhi Nagar, Habeeb Nagar, Dharani Nagar, Sardarnagar and Sunnam Cheruvu. The Commissioner directed the Engineering & Town Planning officials to expedite all the works pertaining to critical bottlenecks over the nalas and complete the entire exercise in the stipulated time. The Commissioner also said the slum-dwellers and poor people, who are affected will be rehabilitated in JNNURM housing scheme at Shamshiguda and other places and private and patta lands owners will be paid compensation as per the rules.

The Commissioner said the GHMC was also deploying Swachh Community Resource Persons to visit door to door and enlighten the households to pay user charges to rickshaw and auto trolley workers for better segregation of garbage waste and the house owners to pay Rs 30 to rickshaw puller and Rs 50 to auto trolley driver as user charges. For Swachh Community Resource persons, the GHMC was planning to pay honorarium to them from GHMC funds.

The Commissioner said the citizens should also be socially responsible in this connection.
