88 yr old Urdu tablet at Osmania hospital on the verge of falling down

Osmania General Hospital was built in 1926 by Asif Jah VII Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan with the cost of Rs. 25 lakh. It was the largest hospital in Asia at that time. Unfortunately the Osmania General Hospital which was built to serve all poor patients irrespective of religion, also became the victim of prejudice after Hyderabad merger into Indian Union. The hospital which is the symbol of humanitarian spirit of Asif Jahi rulers has always been overlooked by the governments and officials. The prejudiced minds tried to demean Urdu language by ignoring Urdu tablet fixed on the historical hospital.

With the peepal tree roots wrapped around it, the Urdu tablet lies in utter neglect. The 2×4 ft size marble tablet which has an inscription of ‘Osmania Dawakhana’ in Urdu can be clearly seen from High Court and Nayapul. The tablet can crumble any time.
