Hyderabad, March 20: Technical Education Minister M. Venkataramana informed the Assembly on Friday that 875 lecturers will be recruited shortly to government polytechnics through AP Public Service Commission.
Answering a question, Mr. Venkataramana said the government had already appointed principals to 19 of the 49 polytechnics that it had set up in the last two years. Twenty five colleges were also given land for construction of buildings. He sought the cooperation of members in land acquisition for the remaining colleges.
Forest Minister P. Ramachandra Reddy said in reply to another question that 57 proposals were received for forest clearance. The proposals were referred to the Central government where the extent of land required to be cleared was more than one hectare. Twelve proposals were pending before the Centre, he added.
He also said the Centre had recently cleared eight road projects in Warangal, including seven to be constructed by the Roads and Buildings Department.
