The Telangana Government on Wednesday launched the subsidised onion sales counter in Rythu Bazars across the State.
Speaking after launching the sales counter, Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao informed that as many as 86 Centres have been opened to sell the onion at subsidised price of Rs. 20 per kg. Of them, 46 counters have been opened in Hyderabad while 40 other Centres were launched in other revenue divisions of the State. He said 100 Metric Tonnes of onion would be sold through these centres. He said nearly 250 MTs of onion has already been supplied to all the Centres.
Harish Rao said that quality onion would be sold at all the Centres. He made it clear that the subsidised onion was meant only for the families and not the hotels. Onion will be sold to individuals by checking their ID cards. He said efforts were also being made to increase the production of onion in the State. (INN)
