Noida, December 16: Eighty five bonded labourers, including minors and women, were today rescued by police from a brick kiln at Badalpur district.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Saumaya Srivastava said of the total number of freed labourers, the numbers of women and children were 30 and 20, respectively.
The labourers said that Vijay Kumar Goyal, the brick kiln owner, who along with contractor Rehmani had brought them a few months ago.
The rescued alleged that they were held captive by the owner who had paid them a meagre amount of Rs 1000 only.
A case against the brick kiln owner and the contractor has been registered.The accused were absconding till late evening.
