800 cops to be deployed at LB stadium

Hyderabad, June 13: An 800-strong contingent which includes about 300 armed policemen will be deployed at LB Stadium, the venue for the T-20 match tomorrow even as an outfit — Telangana Youth Force has threatened to disrupt the match.

Besides the 800 personnel, over 200 private security guards will assist the city police in the smooth conduct of the match.

According to officials, 16 armed platoons of AP Special Police (APSP) personnel (approximately 300 men), 300 unarmed personnel, 10 ACPs, 30 Inspectors, 60 sub-inspectors, 50 women police along with 8 women SIs will be deployed in and around the stadium.

Besides, three DCPs — N Madhusudhan Reddy (south zone), Mahesh Chandra Laddha (East zone), Y Nagi Reddy (North zone) will be assisting the Central zone DCP Akun Sabharwal, under whose jurisdiction the stadium falls, in supervising the security.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Coordination) Dwarka Tirumal Rao has been made the over-all in-charge. Further, the forces have been divided into various components — Law and Order, Security wing (at the gate), Traffic wing for regulating traffic, rooftop deployment, patrolling parties and mounted police.

Asked about the call given by the Telangana Youth Force, Central zone DCP Akun Sabharwal said that tight security arrangements are in place and they will ensure that the match goes on peacefully. “From our side, all arrangements have been made and we will ensure public order,’’ the DCP said.
