New Delhi, January 31: An eight-year old boy was allegedly sodomised at the All India Institute of medical sciences (AIIMS) at New Delhi. Father of the child reported that his son was molested on January 23rd by a final-year medical student who was on night duty at the Intensive Care Unit of the neurosurgery department.
The complaint lodged by the victim’s father has been forwarded to the institute’s Committee for Addressing Complaints of Sexual Harassment reported.
“After sexually assaulting my son, he (doctor) threatened him with dire consequences and said he would not be discharged if he mentioned the ill-treatment to anyone. My son was very afraid but confided in his mother the next day – on the 24th of January,” the complaint said.
According to the complaint, the doctor took the boy to his duty room on January 23, a day after he was operated upon, and abused him sexually. The victim’s father said his son would be able to identify the doctor by face.
AIIMS director Dr RC Deka refused to comment on the matter. “The investigation is not complete yet. It won’t be proper on my part to make a comment at the moment.”
The eight-year-old boy was undergoing treatment for a brain tumour at the country’s premier medical institute.
