Chandanagar police on Friday arrested a man for kidnapping and killing an eight-year-old boy. According to police Raman Patel, native of Bihar, was working as a labourer in Saisri Developers. Shyamlal Thapa and his wife Sangeeta Thapa also reside near Saisri Apartment along with their son Krishna Thapa. The accused has been close to the family of Thapa for being their neighbour.
On February 4, Raman Patel took Krishna in the pretext of getting a chocolate for him to nearby bushes and assaulted sexually. As the boy started screaming the accused strangled him to death. When the boy didn’t return home, his mother lodged a complaint with the Chandanagar police. On February 22, cops found a dead body amid some bushes in a park at Huda layout, Nallagandla village. Locals identified the body as that of the missing boy.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he had sexually assaulted the boy before strangulating him to death. A case was registered against Raman under sections 366 (kidnap), 377 (unnatural sex), 302 (murder) of IPC and sections 4 & 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
