8 water connections disconnected

Hyderabad, July 8: Vigilance staff of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), led by inspector B Sri Hari conducted surprise raids in Hafeez Baba Nagar in the Old City and disconnected eight illegal water supply connections.
The area lies under the Maisaram section of Operation and Maintenance division II of the Water Board. Cases have been registered against the concerned house-owners and respondents for taking further action.
Complete works on time: Collector to Board officials District collector Natarajan Gulzar has directed the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board to complete developmental works on a priority basis.
Gulzar had a review meeting with HMWS&SB officials to discuss issues that were raised during the District Review Committee and works being taken up under the Assembly Constituency Development Programme (ACDP) of the Water Board.
Out of 616 works sanctioned for 2010-11, the Board has completed 121 projects, 324 are under various stages of completion and another 71 are yet to take off, chief general manager Ravindranath informed the collector.
As there was no dearth of funds, the collector asked officials to complete rest of the works in time maintaining quality.
