Kabul: As many as eight Taliban militants were killed in a clash with security forces in Herat province in western Afghanistan, officials said on Sunday.
Ziarat Shah Abed, a top commander in Herat, was quoted by TOLOnews as saying that the skirmish occurred in Shayan village of Obe district in Herat when the Taliban launched an attack at an army check-post.
Abed added that eight terrorists were killed and 15 others were injured in the clash. He confirmed that there were no casualties among the armed forces and civilians.
The Afghan security forces conduct regular operations in various parts of the war-torn country in an effort to dispel the militants from the affected areas.
