8 from Shadnagar die in car-lorry collision

Kurnool, October 12: Eight persons were killed and three suffered serious injuries when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry near Allagadda in the district today.

According to police, the lorry’s front wheel went flat when it was going at a high speed causing the vehicle to skid on the road near Chintakommadinna village in Allagadda mandal. Caught unawares, the car driver, who was also overspeeding, rammed the vehicle into the lorry. “The impact of the collision was such that seven of the 11 persons travelling in the car died on the spot. The bodies were torn apart and parts were strewn all around,” police and eye-witnesses said. One of the injured died while being shifted to hospital while the condition of three others is said to be serious. They were shifted to Kurnool area hospital, Allagadda circle inspector Giridhar said.

All the victims, hailing from Shadnagar in Mahaboobnagar district, were on their way to Piler in Kadapa district, police said. Seven of the dead were identified as Narasimha Naidu, Chakravarthy, Suresh, Sirisha, Shanti, Teja and Laxmamma. Allagadda police registered a case and are investigating.
