Ahmedabad, August 22: Eight fresh cases of Swine Flu were detected in the state today taking the total positive cases to 82, officials said today.
The swab samples of 420 out of 512 suspected cases, were tested negative, they said.
“Today, eight new cases were confirmed with Swine Flu infection out of which four are in in Vadodara, two in Ahmedabad and one each in Surat and Rajkot,” Principal Secretary, Health, Ravi Saxena said.
Out of 82 positive cases reported so far from across the state, five patients have succumbed to the deadly infectious H1N1 virus, he said.
So far, 51 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, 13 from Surat, eight from Vadodara, five from Rajkot, two from Gandhinagar and one each from Daman and Jamnagar and two from Bhavnagar, Saxena said.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting of the health department regarding the arrangements made to deal with the rising cases of Swine Flu in the state, he said.
“We briefed the CM about the arrangements we have made to deal with the situation. Our 11 teams are working round the clock and there is no shortage of Tamiflu tablets or safety masks in the state,” Saxena said. .
