8 members of family murdered in Lahore

Eight members of a family, including women and children, were brutally murdered in the capital of Pakistan’s Punjab province today, police said.

The dead included three brothers, the wives of two of them and three children. They were murdered in the densely
populated Jauhar Town area of Lahore.

Two brothers – Muhammad Shahid and Muhammad Majid – were members of the faculty at a private college in Lahore while
the third was a contractor.

City police chief Chaudhry Shafique told reporters that police today received a call from an unidentified person, who
informed them about the killings.

Police reached the spot and found the bodies. Shafique said sharp-edged weapons were used in the crime.

He ruled out terrorism. “Torture marks have been found on the bodies,” he said, adding the murders appeared to be the
result of some old enmity.

A chemical was found at the crime scene. The bodies were shifted to the city morgue for autopsy.
