8 lakh toddy saplings planted: Harish

Excise and Irrigation departments could plant 8 lakhs of toddy saplings on the lake beds in Medak district, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said. As part of the Haritha Haram program the government is encouraging people to plant saplings and protect them to route out drought and get clean environment he said. Everyone should plant a sapling and each village should get 40000 saplings planted. It is our responsibility to plant and protect the saplings to attract rains and fight pollution the minister noted. Later, he inspected works of Mission Bhagiratha intake well at Singur . Drinking water scheme works are going n a war-footing and potable waters will be given to Pulkal, Andhole, Rayakod, Munipally mandals by December. As many as 35 acres will be irrigated through Singur canal he added. (NSS)
