Srinagar, November 03: With the recovery of four more bodies, the toll in the road accident in Doda district today has risen to eight, while 40 others are injured, police said here. The mishap took place when a bus, which was on its way from Jammu to Kishtwar, skidded off the road and rolled down into Chenab river at Prem Nagar, about 180-kms from here, they said.
The rescue teams recovered seven bodies from the bus which had partly submerged into the river Chenab. “Five of the 40 injured are serious and have been airlifted from Doda to Government Medical College hospital here, while one of them succumbed to the injuries,” they said.
The Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal has attributed the accident to overspeeding of the bus.
