77538 acres in Telangana and 40929 acres in Rayalseema owned by Waqf

The total number of Waqf properties in Andhra Pradesh, including institutions, masajid, dargahs, graveyards, eidgahs, ashurkhanas and chillas etc is 35703. The Waqf records show that the 35703 Waqf institutions are sprawled over 1,45,55,94 land of which 8159140 has been illegally occupied and just 6392054 acre land remains under Waqf control.

State governments, opportunist elements and politicians are responsible for the destruction of 77538.70 acres of land in Telangana and 27044 acre waqf land of Andhra. Only 229 employees are working in the Waqf Board for the protection of precious Waqf land.

Since June 2 will be the formation day of Telangana, special officer state Waqf Board Mr. Shaikh Muhammad Iqbal has begun the work of making separate records of waqf properties of Telangana and Andhra. It remains to be seen what the parties who would come to power in Telangana and Andhra would take steps for the preservation of Waqf properties.
