Chief Executive Officer Waqf Board Mohammed Asadullah called an emergency meeting of the officials and reviewed the scheme regarding honourarium to Imams and Muezzins. He directed the officials to expedite the verification of applications and directed the Waqf Inspectors of the districts to complete the verification work within one week and submit the report to Waqf Board. He said that in the first phase 751 Imams and Muezzins will be presented honourarium.
In a function to be held at Hajj House, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali will handover cheques to the Imams and Muezzins. Mr. Asadullah admitted that the verification of applications was delayed due to reasons like staff crunch and additional responsibilities to Waqf Inspectors.
He informed that the function will begin at 11:30 am on Monday. Director General Anti Corruption Bureau AK Khan, Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel and other officers will attend the function. Mohammed Asadullah told that counting from July 2015, cheques of 9000 will be handed over to each of them.
